High Voltage Transformer Placement

High-voltage transformer placement requires careful planning, specialised equipment and precise execution. Depending on the transformer specifications and site conditions, the unit may need to be lifted into position by crane or moved using hydraulic jacking and skidding systems.

Eastship Projects & Logistics provides specialised high-voltage transformer placement solutions, from technical planning and site assessment through to the final positioning of the transformer on its foundation.

We select the appropriate placement method according to the transformer weight and dimensions, site access, available working space, ground conditions, lifting requirements and installation configuration.

Transformer Placement by Crane

Where site conditions and lifting requirements allow, a high-voltage transformer can be placed using a suitable crane configuration.

The operation is planned around the transformer weight, dimensions, centre of gravity, lifting points, required lifting radius and ground conditions. Crane capacity and configuration are assessed according to the actual requirements of the operation.

The placement sequence is coordinated to ensure controlled lifting, movement and lowering of the transformer onto its designated foundation.

Transformer Placement by Jacking & Skidding

When conventional crane placement is restricted, working space, lifting capacity or site configuration, hydraulic jacking and skidding can provide an alternative solution.

Using hydraulic jacking systems, the transformer is raised in a controlled manner and transferred onto a suitable skidding arrangement. The transformer can then be moved horizontally along a prepared path towards its final position.

The operation allows heavy transformers to be positioned in locations where crane access may be limited or where the required lifting configuration is not practical.

Depending on the project, the process can include:

  • Hydraulic jacking of the transformer

  • Installation and configuration of the skidding system

  • Controlled horizontal movement

  • Directional control during the skidding operation

  • Alignment with the transformer foundation

  • Final positioning and lowering

Planning the Transformer Placement Operation

The placement method is determined by the specific characteristics of each project.

Before the operation, our team evaluates the transformer and the installation environment, including:

  • Transformer weight and dimensions

  • Centre of gravity

  • Lifting and handling points

  • Foundation dimensions and elevation

  • Site access and working space

  • Ground and surface conditions

  • Overhead and surrounding clearances

  • Required movement and positioning distance

  • Available lifting and hydraulic equipment

  • Final installation requirements

This assessment allows the placement sequence to be established before the transformer arrives at the installation area.

From Delivery to Final Position

Transformer placement is often the final stage of a complex logistics operation. The transition from specialised transport equipment to the transformer foundation needs to be considered as part of the overall project.

Eastship can coordinate the interface between transport, unloading, lifting or skidding and final placement, allowing the different stages of the operation to be planned together.

Depending on the project requirements, the sequence may involve:

Transport → Unloading → Jacking or Lifting → Skidding or Crane Placement → Alignment → Final Position

The specific method is developed around the site rather than relying on a standard configuration.

High Voltage Transformer Placement for Power Infrastructure

Our transformer placement services are suitable for a range of electrical infrastructure projects, including:

  • High-voltage substations

  • Power substations

  • Electrical grid infrastructure

  • Power generation facilities

  • Renewable energy projects

  • Industrial power installations

  • Substation extensions and upgrades

  • Transformer replacement projects

Each operation is assessed according to its technical requirements and site constraints.

Specialised Equipment & Engineering

High-voltage transformer placement can require a combination of specialised equipment and engineering controls.

Depending on the project, Eastship may use:

  • Heavy-lift cranes

  • Hydraulic jacking systems

  • Hydraulic skidding systems

  • Specialised heavy transport equipment

  • Auxiliary handling equipment

Equipment selection is based on the required load capacity, movement characteristics and site configuration.

The objective is to establish a controlled and technically appropriate method for moving the transformer from its delivered position to its final installation position.

High Voltage Transformer Placement Across Europe

Eastship Projects & Logistics provides specialised transformer placement solutions for projects in Romania and across Europe.

Whether the transformer can be placed directly by crane or requires a hydraulic jacking and skidding operation, our team can assess the site requirements and develop the appropriate logistics and handling method.
